Repositioning for Growth

Clearly defined job roles and effective business plans.

We advise that every Job Holder in the organisation should be included in structured Business Planning that recognises his/her contribution to the organisation’s success.

Our overall approach breaks down into the following key areas as follows:-

Reclarification of the Job Holders Role

Revisit, adjusting if necessary and sign off as agreed and understood

The Required Outputs/Results

Measurable results for example: sales personnel – sales volumes, gross margin levels, period of credit days etc.

Inputs and activities designed to ensure the Job Holder reaches required outputs

Again, as an example: Sales personnel promotion of products, improved relations with key customers, reduction, containment of specific costs and overheads, etc.

A key inputting activity we recommend is lifting a specific number of customers to a higher grade return level – a goal that can be shared with job holders in internal departments

Personal Development Objectives

Ideally should be divided between competency upskilling and behaviour and attitude improvement areas.

Agreed Support from the Organisation

The Manager, Team leader agreeing and committing to providing specific areas of help for the Job Holder in the achievement of key areas within the Business Plan Objectives.

Reward and Recognition

If achievements are bonus related, this needs to be clearly spelled out, agreed, understood to be fair and worth striving for in terms of both reward and recognition.

Date and Time of Review(s)

Structured Business Plans need reviewing and updating say, at least twice in the year.

Reporting

The templates we have installed for clients move very much towards a specific ‘yes’  ‘no’ approach measuring activities and achievements and striving for a reduction of narrative type reporting of details.

Similarly information going out to field operatives has a requirement to be streamlined and focussing on key areas of success and / or need for additional concentration and catch up.

Project Teams

In working with clients we find that provided an internal project team has been well selected and with some guidance they will move quickly to upgrade and in some cases vastly improve the approach and structures of both Business Planning and Reporting within the organisation.
